Description: The scholarship was established in 1968 by a gift of $5,000 from A. B. Walkom. A lecturer in Geology at the University of Queensland from 1913 to 1919, he commenced to build up the University's palaeontological collections, developed the teaching in historical geology, and carried out and published in the results of important research on the Mesozoic plant fossils of Queensland.
