University Overview

Undergraduate

UQ is a large university where students can choose from the largest high-qualtiy range of undergraduate programs in Queensland 400 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs.
Postgraduate
UQ's postgraduate programs provide graduate students with specialized knowledge and an advantage in the employment market. Postgraduate studies,enables students to upgrade qualifications, keep abreast of modern work developments, change careers or enhance promotion potential. The university also offers different study options such as full time, part time (only available to domestic students) or external education.
Students can choose from a wide array of study areas either through coursework or research. Agribusiness, agriculture, environment and science, business, economics and law, engineering, architecture and planning, and information technology, health, humanities, education, psychology and music are some examples of study areas. Research degrees at UQ include the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and the Master of Philosophy (MPhil).
Study Online
UQ offers distance education courses are to students. External students can enroll in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in many study areas including agribusiness, agriculture, environment and science, business, economics and law, engineering, architecture and planning, and information technology, health, humanities, education, psychology and music.
The bulk of material provided to off-campus students is print-based, utilizing the Blackboard Learning system, the internet, with some material available on CD-ROM, DVD and video. The Blackboard Learning system allows students to receive course content, participate in online discussions and forums, take examinations, submit assignments and receive grades and comments.
International Students
The University of Queensland has comprehensive support programs for overseas students. Even before students come to Australia, the University already offers a pre-departure webinar discussing things such as organizing passport, visa, health insurance, plane tickets and airport pickup and planning accommodation and finances. To make the transition to a new country and culture easier, UQ can meet new students at the Brisbane domestic or international airports and take them to their temporary or permanent accommodation.
To prepare students with university life, the UQ offers orientations and briefings. English language support, international student activities and mentoring programs are also offered. UQ also has dedicated support volunteers, available to discuss with students the working conditions in Australia, the requirements to bring their families and other concerns and queries.
Tuition Fees
University of Queensland tuition fees vary depending on student status and the course being undertaken. International students are generally required to pay the full fee for undergraduate study while both local and undergraduate students can be required to pay the full fee for postgraduate study. Scholarships
UQ has a wide variety of scholarships available for every student. Undergraduate, postgraduate and research by higher degree scholarships are available in different areas of study so students can choose which best suits them. UQ awards these scholarships based on academic merit, sports involvement, economic status and extracurricular activities.
The university also offers scholarships for international students who want to study undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at UQ. Most international scholarships are given to students on the basis of academic performance. External scholarships sponsored by the Australian government, private organizations and different industries are as well available at the university.
University Life
UQ university life is filled with fun student activities and programs. There is an enormous range of things to do around the university.
