Description: The BHP Billiton West Australian School of Mines (WASM) Scholarship has been developed by BHP Billiton in conjunction with Curtin University to encourage and support students (currently undertaking year 12) who have demonstrated academic excellence, have chosen to study a Metallurgical or Mining Engineering degree and wish to study at Kalgoorlie from their second year of study. The scholarship recognises BHP Billiton's commitment to education in Western Australia.

Eligibility: Applicants must: be Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents or permanent humanitarian visa holders; have selected Curtin University as first preference through TISC to undertake a Bachelor of Engineering with a major in Metallurgical Engineering or Mining Engineering; be undertaking year 12 in the year prior to enrolment; receive an ATAR or 96 or above; be transferring to Kalgoorlie campus from second year of study; and be eligible of a Commonwealth Supported place. Indigenous Australians are encouraged to apply.
